Duxford to wspaniałe miejsce dla osób kochających gang silników starych maszyn. To wręcz zaczarowane lotnisko, z którego raz po raz startują całe stada samolotów, które już w pojedynkę bywają ozdobą przeróżnych innych pokazów lotniczych w Europie i na świecie. Gdy np. do takiej Góraszki przylatuje jeden Spitfire i jest to wydarzenie na miarę święta państwowego, to w Duxford w jednym przelocie potrafi ich lecieć choćby dwadzieścia i do tego wraz z trzema Latającymi Fortecami :) To właśnie jest Duxford – prawdziwa uczta! W 2008 roku mieliśmy przyjemność uczestniczyć w cyklicznych pokazach o nazwie Flying Legends. Wzięły w nich udział maszyny głównie z okresu II wojny światowej, zarówno z europejskiego jak i daleko-wschodniego frontu. Z przelotem każdego samolotu wiązała się jakaś historia jego działań, a przed oczami stawały opowieści asów przestworzy. Największe wrażenie zrobiły końcowe przeloty grupowe wszystkich samolotów w jednej formacji oraz pokaz zespołu Team Guinot. Wystawa statyczna również fascynowała. Dodatkową atrakcją było zlokalizowane na lotnisku Muzeum Amerykańskich Sił Powietrznych, którego jednym z głównych eksponatów jest SR-71! Pokazy w Duxford zdecydowanie złagodziły nasz smutek wynikający z odwołania pokazów w Fairford (2008). Naprawdę warto tam być!

Duxford is a magnificent place for those, who are in love with the noise of the oldtimers’ engines. There is something magical in this airfield with vintage aircrafts taking off, solo and in formations, on and on during the day. Each one is often a single star of many European and international air shows – here one can enjoy all of most popular and well-known airplanes, which contributed to the aviation history. Seeing a single Spitfire at Góraszka air fest in Poland gathers a lot of people, who celebrate its flight almost like some national holiday. Here, there is nothing unusual watching 20 of them flying in a formation…and in the company of 3 Flying Fortresses!!! Ladies and gentleman – this is Duxford!

We already had a pleasure to be guests of the 2008 edition of Flying Legends. Most of the classic aircrafts exhibited at the show have been the actors of the World War II fronts, not only in Europe but also in Far East. Each has presented its own story so we could easily imagine the adventures of the flying aces getting the next score to their track record. The most stunning parts of the show were the group flight of all aircrafts in a formation and Team Guinot dynamic display. You also cannot miss the impressive static display. In addition, one has an unique opportunity to visit The American Air Museum, based here at The Imperial War Museum, to see the dream of many aviation fans worldwide – the majestic SR-71 Blackbird!!! The Duxford air event has been truly a therapy for our troubled souls after cancelling Fairford air show in 2008. You just simply have to be there!
